🔴 Renewing Democracy from the Bottom Up – UCLG Executive Bureau Thematic Session
Let by the International Observatory on Participatory Democracy (IODP) in cooperation with the UCLG Policy Council on Territorial Multilevel Governance and Sustainable Financing, and the Global Democracy Coalition.
🎯 Description: Local and regional governments, as the closest level of government to communities, are the guarantors of local democracy and its key guiding principles such as accountability, transparency and participatory policymaking. This session will go into depth on the role that local democracy, public participation and open governance play in the achievement of the universal development agendas and in leaving no one and no place behind and how all spheres of government and stakeholders work together for a more just and equal future. .
