What we believe is that local democracy and strong local governance need to be the building blocks of sustainable peace and prosperous societies fostering livelihoods that are decent for people where they can meet their expectations.
They need to be transparent, accountable and responsive to times. It has to do with learning to govern in emergency, rethinking democracy in the new society of dis-information, and needing to establish different relationships between spheres of government and with communities and the way they can impact in local governance. At the same time, we believe that we need a path for enhanced multilateralism and international governance architecture.
