🎯 Description:

The Executive Bureau, which gathers twice a year, is composed of 116 political representatives nominated from all world regions. The Bureau is responsible for initiating proposals and carrying out the decisions of the World Council. It is in charge of the World Organization’s administrative and financial management and prepares the ground for the content of the meetings of the World Council. The Bureau also makes recommendations about international processes and policies, and the production of policy papers.

This will be the last meeting of the Executive Bureau for the current mandate. The new Executive Bureau will be appointed for 2022-2025 in Daejeon, during the World Council. The Executive Bureau will receive updates on policy highlights and strategic priorities.

🎯 Description:

The pandemic put us in front of an unprecedented scenario, but also gave us a renewed sense of purpose to leave no one and no place behind. We understood that failing was not an option, and that we needed real transformative action to overcome the current levels of inequality, address the environmental crisis, and challenge the widening cultural divide. This session will be a moment to celebrate that we are together again, in person and in every way we can, but also a pledge from the members of our constituency, building on the origins of our movement, to jointly deliver on achieving peaceful, sustainable and harmonious societies. To meet the expectations of current and future generations and break through as one.

🎯 Description:

Local and regional governments need to be at the forefront of a new way to do politics – one that, by building on feminism, contributes to fostering social justice and gender equality as the indispensable building blocks of any just, sustainable, and thriving society.

This plenary session will foster a dialogue between representatives of local and regional governments and other actors, including national and international representatives and partners, on the Pact for the Future of People as a driver to accelerate the development of caring societies based on feminism and local service provision, i.e. municipal feminism, health beyond healthcare, human rights, migration, peacebuilding and city diplomacy, or culture.

🎯 Description:

The General Assembly gathers representation of all the members of UCLG. It has the responsibility for the overall policy, direction and oversight of the World Organization. It will receive reports from the Presidency and from the Assembly and Town Hall tracks.

It will appoint the members of the World Council for 2022-2025, based on the electoral process taking place this year throughout the Sections.

🎯 Description:

Local public service provision has proven to be a vital part of our response towards protecting people and the planet before and during the pandemic and in the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals.

Building on this and on the key role that local and regional governments play in solidarity, diplomacy, and urban and territorial regeneration, local and regional governments must be treated as key actors in the journey towards transforming our relationship with nature and our ecosystems. 

The session will foster a dialogue between representatives of local and regional governments, national and international actors, grassroots organizations and key stakeholders on the actions that need to be collectively taken to transform our relationship with nature.

🎯 Description:

The local and territorial level is critical to rethink and to reshape the governance systems into more inclusive ones. Rebuilding trust between citizens, institutions and communities, at all levels, are determinant elements to achieving the global agendas.

The plenary will foster a dialogue between representatives of local and regional governments to address the role that local and regional governments will play in the multilateral system in the future, delivering specific recommendations for the movement to be adopted in the Pact for the Future.

🎯 Description:

This will be the first meeting of the newly appointed World Council for the 2022-2025 mandate.

The World Council will decide the general policies of the Organization for the next period, adopt the Pact for the Future and the work programme for 2023.

It will elect the Presidency, the Treasurer and the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Gender Equality.

It will also appoint the members of the Executive Bureau among its own membership, following the electoral process taking place throughout the Sections.
