Cooperation is in the very DNA of the international municipal movement UCLG represents. The discussions within the context of the Live Learning Experiences and the UCLG Decalogue for the Post COVID Era recognize that solidarity is a beacon of security and, more than ever before, cooperation among local and regional governments but also their contribution to the international development policy are critical to achieve the global goals. In this light the World Council mandated the Working Group on Capacity and Institution-Building to renew the Policy Paper on “Development Cooperation and Local Government” in order to reflect the changing context and reiterate the commitment of the World Organization to international action.

This thematic session will link the process of the development of the policy paper with the discussions at the Policy Councils starting from the Policy Statement tabled at the Bureau which will articulate the longer paper to be launched later this year.
