This session will explore the critical role of Local Economic Development (LED) in urban recovery, focusing on how economic regeneration strategies can rebuild trust, social cohesion, and resilience in conflict-affected areas. Through case studies from Syria, Palestine, and the MEWA region, participants will examine participatory, area-based planning approaches and the role of multi-stakeholder collaboration in fostering inclusive economic recovery. The discussion will highlight best practices in integrating LED into post-conflict reconstruction, emphasizing the importance of bottom-up engagement, urban-rural linkages, and long-term economic resilience to support peacebuilding efforts.

Esta sesión explorará el papel fundamental del desarrollo económico local en la recuperación urbana, centrándose en cómo las estrategias de regeneración económica pueden reconstruir la confianza, la cohesión social y la resiliencia en zonas afectadas por conflictos. A través de estudios de casos de Siria, Palestina y la región de MEWA, las y los participantes examinarán enfoques de planificación participativa y basada en zonas, así como el papel de la colaboración entre múltiples partes interesadas en el fomento de una recuperación económica inclusiva.
