Executive Bureau 2021
#UCLGMeets Care at the heart of the local service provision for an inclusive recovery
Changes at "From managing migration to a community-based approach to human mobility: towards the Lampedusa Charter"
Description (English)
-
-
Against the backdrop of unprecedented transformations, human mobility has been acknowledged by the UCLG World Council as a key axis of the Pact for the Future. Building on the legacy of the Charter-Agenda for Human Rights in the City, the Marrakech Mayoral Declaration and the Durban Manifesto on Migration, as well as on the UCLG Regional voices, namely the Charter of Subnational Governments of Africa on Migration and the Gaziantep Declaration, UCLG works to shape a global voice that fully represents our values, our diversity, our hopes and our strength as a network.
As a Councilor of the Political Council on the Right to the City and Inclusive Territories, the Mayor of Lampedusa proposed to take a further step towards the co-creation of an inclusive process reflecting the visions of all parts of the network and amplifying their voice in global processes. Built in co-creation with partners and members the Charter aims to be launched at the occasion of the World Migrants Day, 18 December 2021 after adoption by the World Council.
This thematic session will link the process of the development of the charter with the discussions of the Policy Councils. It will address the thematic axes of the charter based on the proposed paper submitted to the Executive Bureau.
