Under the theme Local Governments: The Power of the People, the Executive Bureau will be organized on 19 April in a hybrid format, allowing participation both in-person and online. All the other sessions, including the official opening, will be in-person only.
The Executive Bureau is framed in the 120th anniversary of the movement and 20 years of union as UCLG. It will allow us to review our history and take stock of the situation, reflecting on the institutional reinforcement necessary to be the driving force of the Pact for the Future.
The Bureau will prepare the position of local governments before the World Water Forum in Indonesia and before the UN Summit of the Future. Local governments want to profile themselves as full-fledged political actors in the international agenda related to local issues.
It will also address issues of the international financing architecture needed to address climate challenges and the diplomacy of cities and territories as a fundamental building block for peace.
All delegates must register in advance, both for in-person and online participation. Please register by 12 April at the latest.
