High-level Framing: Safeguarding the Commons (13:30-15:00)

The High-Level Framing session on Safeguarding the Commons will, in particular, address the importance of water as a shared resource, building on the priorities shared by the UCLG Membership ahead of the upcoming World Water Forum and contribute to developing a joint position towards the Forum, building on our experiences.

The session will also be of use to feed the upcoming conversation of the Policy Council on the Right to the City: Reclaiming the Commons, and link the debates around water management with the common goods that the constituency needs to protect, in particular in regards to health, right to food and food systems, and the role of local and regional governments in protecting our shared resources.
